This six-week course will dive into the world of the ancient Egyptian gods. After a brief introduction to ancient Egypt and the pantheon of gods, students will learn the myths that shaped the ancient Egyptian worldview. These myths will include ancient accounts of the creation of the world, the murder of Osiris and contest for the throne between Horus and Set, and the diverse important roles played by ancient Egyptian goddesses in the pantheon. From these myths, students will explore the religion of ancient Egypt and how ancient Egyptians perceived their world. No prior knowledge of ancient Egypt is required.
